I'm interested in hearing what the experienced guys are using to knock down eurasian watermilfoil??? Had a hearty bloom last year, and want get on top of it early to avoid a repeat!

Seeing lots of options that will get the job done, but... Kids and fish will be swimming in it, so with that in mind what's the least harmful approach that will still work?

Already started a dye treatment, but thinking something more is needed to eradicate the swimming area completely, then spot treat the rest.

Thanks,
Joe

I used SONAR concentrate, very simple and effective. Others here can tell you more about calculating concentration, and application process. You do need the proper dose to sit in the same volume of water for up to 30 days. So if you have inflow and outflow of water or water turnover it is harder to achieve that needed dose of Sonar for the whole time.

There is benefit from a fall application and then a repeat spring application, but a good spring application should still work well.

It is pricey!! PM me if you only need a small amount.

Sonar looks like an attractive option. My reservation is not the price because it looks like a once and done for the season option. But, I'm not sure if I want to wipe out all vegetation completely for the fish's sake. My pond is sort of a kidney bean shape, with the narrow area separating the swimming area from the other half, where I thought leaving some vegetation would be beneficial. Each half is about a half acre.

My questions, do you think sonar could be effective on leaving some life in the far half, and how safe is sonar for fish and swimming?

Thanks for the input.
