It will freeze out this winter. Then, next spring, watch for it and spray as soon as you see young plants on the comeback.
Oh yeah, be sure you have correctly identified the plant....sometimes I take that for granted. Biggest boo-boo I see in the business is missed identification of target plants.

yes had it identified as duckweed. have used copper sulfate and reward. frog and tadpole population is very large. i only stocked small blue gills and they seem to be doing quite well. i also put a lot fat head minnows in their yesturday and they are eating the duckweed. no way they can control it but was surprised to see them eating it. thanks for your responses. we just moved in this home this past winter and love it. the pond is close to the house and want it to look its best

Consider Sonar next spring, if duckweed rears its head. Sonar, by SePro, works well on duckweed.

Bob,
Great suggestion. Sonar treated as soon as the duckweed starts along the shoreline is the time to treat. You will see one or two plants coming to the surface. Yes, make sure ALL of the plants are duckweed. Many times watermeal will also be present with duckweed. The duckweed will drop out leaving watermeal. Watermeal will also die, but may take longer-60-90 days. This timing is different for areas around the US-as you might imagine.
