Trying to aerate a shallow pond, max depth would be 3 1/2’. Kidney shaped 140’x 40. Research has shown so far that bubble tubing is the best option instead of one or two diffusers. I don’t think I need as large as pump like a Gast compressor. But I would need 200’ of diffusing tubing. I’m looking for pump sizes suffficient as well as what tubing would be useful? Sprinkler hoses? Etc. Thank you.

Question: at 3.5 feet, does this freeze solid in the winter? or are you looking to aerate to keep it open? I set my aeration at 2 feet with an open end air hose to keep my pond open in Michigan, it keeps about a 20 foot opening clear thru most of the winter, down to about 8' when it gets below zero, have a 1/4 hp single rocking piston compressor. Hope this helps

I's seen more people use a fountain in a shallow pond. You may want to research that option.

All diffusers have to be cleaned periodically or they clog up and flow is restricted. I would assume diffusing tubing would be the same, but maybe it isn't. If it does noeed to be cleaned, cleaning 200' of it would SUCK!

MNFish has told me before that even their shallow ponds ~3-4' range do not freeze solid in MN Winters so I doubt yours would, but I could be wrong.

I believe it gets close to freezing solid. I would like to eventually have fish in it so I would like to keep it open. The fountain option I would look at. Thanks.
