Hi all. New to the forums after reading all I could find.

I'd like some help selecting an aerator pump/system. The pond is about .7 acres, max depth is about 11' right in the middle (so average depth 6'?), in Texas.

It's kinda oblong shaped, so I was hoping to do two single diffusers spaced evenly from the center. It's not a perfect bowl so the depths are different - one side would probably be only 5-6' and the other maybe 8-10'.

I'd really like to go with a linear pump - been looking at the Hakko HK100L - because noise and low ongoing electrical cost are the primary concerns. I have a sheltered place with power already installed right next to the water, but that happens to be on the dock/outdoor kitchen. I really want to keep it quiet, even if the pump only runs at night. And I'd hate to pay 3x for electricity to run a rotary vane or rocker piston if I don't have to.

I know linear pumps aren't designed for high PSI, and my max depth is pushing it. I've seen the CFM/PSI graph that shows flow dropping down to around 2CFM at around 10-12' (and down to 0 at 16'). So I guess my question is: Shouldn't that be ok for my purposes? Even if the pump's free-flow of 4.7 CFM is reduced all the way down to 2 CFM, that is enough to run two single Vertex 9" diffusers and turn my pond 2X a day. Pressure may even be less of an issue because the diffusers would be off-centered and thus maybe only 6' and 9' deep. Seems like a couple feet matter a lot for these linear pumps.

Is missing the deepest part of the pond a problem?

Any help and advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

I'm running a linear diaphram rated to 30 feet. A double tubular membrane diffuser sitting in 8.5 feet and it creates one heck of a boil. We've estimated I'm turning 185000 gallons twice in 6 hours run time. Shoot me a PM if you want more info.

.10 surface acre pond, 10.5 foot deep. SW LA. The epitome of a mutt pond. BG, LMB, GSF, RES, BH, Warmouth, Longear Sunfish, Gambusia,Mud Minnows, Crappie, and now shiners!!...I subscribe!!

I have a 46 year old pond with about 6 feet of muck. I also have two more ponds downstream with about 300 yards between them. I am thinking about putting several small haybale dams between each. And then going to the old pond and tacking a water pump putting a pipe on the output with a series of holes at the bottom to pump water down to the bottom of the muck to liquify it to allow more of it to flow out of the pond using a bottom siphon. Most of the muck should be caught by the hay baffles and the two ponds below. I was wondering if anyone has tried anything like this?
