You sir are obviously a very intelligent person that is not afraid to embrace the unusual. I applaud your open mindedness. Hang on for some expert feed back on fish food.

Good enough for the channel cats. Maybe the cats will also eat all the greenies. The feed is def. good enough for the GSF. I, personally like to spend a little more on higher protein stuff with more fish oil. But I'm feeding bluegills. If they eat it good. OK.

I am basically over the Neches River, just inside Cherokee County. I am throwing out feed manually (no feeder) and the CC and GSF go crazy at feeding time! I use the LoneStar feed.

Anyone ever feed their fish plain old catfood (feline kind)? I have used this in fish tanks successfully and was wondering if it is accepted and ok for pond fish.

RAH, I don't think I would PERSONALLY feed food that was manufactured and blended for one species for another.
I've never heard of Lonestar Feed. I believe I would call them and ask what's in it. I know of one place that sells 32% fish food cheaper than Purina pays for ingredients. No way I would use it. However, if Purina keeps jacking up the price of their stuff......
It's not about the fish. It's about the pond. Take care of the pond and the fish will be fine. PB subscriber since before it was in color.

DD1:
I know that we're spoiled being this close to the Purina plant, but the last bag of AM 600 that I bought was $26 and change.

I don't know where all the production plants are. Further away = higher delivery costs.

I'm going to be making a few calls. In other words, let my fingers do the walking.
