I have been using a seining net to remove catfish, bullhead and carp from my pond. So far I have been using floating feed and have had very good luck getting the catfish to feed, but can't seem to get the carp to come to the feed. I have been using floating feed exclusively. I was wondering if using sinking feed or a combination of sinking/floating feed would help attract more common carp. Any ideas?

Have you considered buying some cheap canned corn in bulk and chumming the area on a daily basis for awhile? I know they'll come to that pretty reasily. The catfish would probably like it as well.

The corn will also enhance the fishes flavor. And if fishing add corn to a worm and attract all three of your targets. Try a couple of 15oz cans the day before you seine and a can a few hours before you seine.
Common carp on a light rig is a lot of fun.

I had considered that. The only reason I haven't is because I have not been home alot of the evenings to feed them. I think I will try corn and sinking feed. Its all for fun anyway.

I have also considered buying a 50lb. bag of whole kernel corn and soaking it in 5 gal. increments in a solution of strawberry gelatin and then throwing it out to bait the carp into the netting area. I would maybe throw a 5 gal. bucket full out 4-8 hrs. before seining time. I will let you guys know how it works.

Use the corn and feed in front of the net set up as follows. Then after a week or so just pull in the end ropes and seine them all up. May be quite a pull.

A few days of baiting with the foods mentioned above should attract lots of carp and bullheads. Take some photos of your catches. You could have some dandy sized fish.

Ewest - Thanks for that. Actually, this is the idea I have been using. I think you showed that picture to me in another thread. It is working GREAT!!!

Bill - I have done it 3 times already. I am getting plenty of catfish but not many carp. So I am trying some canned corn and will seine again on Friday or Sunday of this week. I will let everyone know how it goes.
