First of all, hello to everybody. We are planing to put a 1/2 acre pond 225'x100' in kidney shape, at 8' to 10' deep. We received the permit and hired the contractor. First step was to dig the test hole to see the underground water level and confirm the soil structure. Our both neighboards from east and west has ponds at almost same elevation with our location and they have underground water as source. After the test hole was done we can say that the luck wasn't on our streets: as you can see in the picture the underground water level is at 8' from the surface so not sure how to proceed. The soil is clay with sand so will not keep the water. The options what we have are: 1.to dig in total 16' to 18' and have the pond with a big slopy shore 2.put the soil back in the test hole and forget it. If we go with the first option and have the extra excavation done (extra cost) we are not sure how will look, by having a big slopy site with the lake in the middle. Please send your advice or maybe some pictures if you have. Thanks and regards. Floyd
If you think about it, you are seeing the CURRENT water level. It will rise and fall depending on rain/snow, etc. What is different on your place versus the neighbors?
It's not about the fish. It's about the pond. Take care of the pond and the fish will be fine. PB subscriber since before it was in color.
