I was also thinking about the true linear distance, curves and all, of the dam as opposed to the straight-line measurement.

I fear my 449' might be a tad off even with the curves. I did some basic Pi x D calcs, and if the two sections of the "3" were perfect half circles, the both of them would only add up to about 400'. But because they are not full half circles, I owe some cash.
