Any ideas on how to get bulk krill? I could use about a kilogram to augment my bluegill diet. I'm raising them in tanks indoors and thought they would help with the overall health of my fish before releasing them in the pond next year.

Thank you.

Wow! Great source. What about them grass shrimp? That's economical at 16 bucks/kilo. Does anybody know if a grass shrimp is an option for native fish? Seems like you could hardly go wrong. Cheap, cheap, cheap.

Bruce,

Don't know about dried, but live grass shrimp are the ultimate forage. All fish seem to love them. Don't know if they survive winter in the Great Plains, but I plan for them to be my main forage species. A few small patches of weeds or grass is all you need for them to reproduce.

They're great for bait too. I've caught everything from small to large BG, RES, crappie, and up to 4 pound bass on them. They're perfect for a fly rod.

Hey the Spirulina Flake is awesome for growing out Tilapia. For those of you out there who are overwintering them. We used to get amazing growth in the young with this stuff as it is a veggy base!

Guys I never heard of krill being high veggy. Veggy good for tilapia and carp not so for BG , LMB ,HSB , YP etc.

Woo-Hoo! \:\) \:\) \:\) Cheap, palatable animal protein supplements to pellets for my Winter-indoors fish!

Anyone know the difference between "screened" and "unscreened" krill? I'm guessing the unscreened contains whole krill and krill particles. This would be perfectly OK - I'm running a considerable mix of sizes and the smaller fish can have a problem with whole krill.

20 bucks for 4.4 pounds. It looks like the shipping will be reasonable as well. If Joey shows up at the Pond Boss spring conference I'm buyin' the first round.

Made a small order. http://www.jehmco.com/index.html Spoke to John there. Very knowlagable. Told him it was for BG in a tub and he laughed. Apparently he got other similar calls... I ordered some freeze dried krill and freeze dried Grass shrimp. I was gonna order some frozen stuff but I held off for now. I also saw something I wanted to try so I got one. Its a box filter similar to the little ones I got but its bigger, he said they work very good so I grabbed one.

I talked with him about raising mosquito fish, he said ya pretty easy but put cover in there, live plants work very good but he told me a little trick that some people use. EASTER grass.. the kind you put in a easter basket, he said the babies will go right into it for cover. Sounded pretty good to me.

The order with regular shipping should be here by wednesday. Pretty fast. Will let you all know.

The Grass shrimp are 1/2 to 1 inch about the same for the Krill. The Krill smells really good. Both of them are easily crumbled if you need smaller peices. I am still dealing with a crappy camera but here is a pic anyway, Krill on the right.
