3+ inches of rain last couple of days filled 2 acre pond - fish poop water through the spillway for first time since 2002.. Picture was taken by our DIL after skunk had been flushed out of pipe and volume decreased. 1/4 acre "grow-out" pond <1 ft to go.... More rain forecast for tonight..

There is something about the sound of our over-flow going that is music to our ears, eh?

We had .25" on Friday, 4.70" yesterday and .25" today. I would like to take a raincheck on anymore moisture until we need it. I will probably be sorry I said that......2 years ago and last we were begging for rain. It was coming over my emergency spillway 6" deep.....I may have lost a GC as two were congregating pretty close to the overflow. I will try to post some pics tomorrow.

P.S. Do the Aquapro feeders have a submerged guarantee? The output on the feeder was a foot below the water level.......the food may have got a tad damp.

That's beautiful.
Sound of water flushing through the pipe is more beautiful than Beethoven's 5th.

Good for you George. Send some of that rain over here. We are 16 in below normal for the year. Ponds are down about 18in. In 20+ years I have never seen our ponds low in June. Lowest ever was down about 1 ft in late Aug.

I just got off the phone with a guy that lives by my land. We got 1/2 inch Friday night and another 5 inches Saturday. I'm going up this afternoon to see if my dams held. The whole country is soaked from this Springs rains and I'm kinda concerned. I'm sure I lost all of the water gap fences over my creek. I expect cows are going to be scattered all over the country.
It's not about the fish. It's about the pond. Take care of the pond and the fish will be fine. PB subscriber since before it was in color.

My wife and I lit out to my place yesterday after work. I got 4 inches. Water is still overflowing thru the pipes.
I wish I could send the overflow to the midwest or southeast. During your droughts, I almost hate to post about our rains.

For future reference, it is hereby resolved that the rest of the country shall not require Texans to feel guilty when they occasionally get sufficient rainfall, provided they don't gloat about it.

Minnesota Public Radio does weekly PODCASTS with noted meteorologists that are usually quite interesting. This morning I was listening to one from a few weeks ago about weather patterns in extreme conditions, like forrest fires and droughts.
I guess it should all be quite obvious, but they said that droughts make droughts worse, but a flood will usually break a drought.
So, maybe our friends in Texas and Oklahoma are finally over their serious rain shortages.

The past three years I have been a “weather watcher”, first checking Bowie area radar rain chance for DD’s dried up ponds, and then N.E. Texas to see if there was any hope on the horizon for our drought stricken ponds. Believe me – we share your pain for those experiencing drought problems. PROMISE – we won’t gloat...

We got another 1.50"s last night. Spillway still seems to be keeping up. The water is even with the top of the damn in the back corner. Should I be worried?
