I signed up today. I can't wait to meet everybody and learn something new. I think the conference is a good excuse to miss a day of school.

catmandoo, I look forward to meeting you. From my pond's location, I think your the closest member to me who's going to the gig.
I prefer Trappey's Red Devil as my main choice of hotsauce for a fried bluegill sandwich.
I think there's going to be some crappie too. I think Greg Grimes is cleaning them, but I'm not sure who's stepped up to catch/provide the fish. Condello's hoarding a freezer full of crappie. Bruce, you know you could FedEx those to DFW in a cooler with those ice packs, don't you?
I heard that special arrangements were made with the Arlington Convention Center to allow the fish fry to happen inside right on the convention floor, with no venting necessary if you believe it.

My big ol' catfish are still waiting for the right invitation to dinner. Come on down! Cumberland is about half way -- so maybe 90 mintues to my pond from yours. Condello's hoarding a freezer full of crappie. My pond is still under a lot of ice and snow, so I probably wouldn't have any fish to offer -- but, I'd be glad to help fillet, skin, and fry any fish! I think my bride would be glad to help too. (We'll just need good knives -- as I doubt they will let me on the air plane with our good knives -- or even with bad knives.) Ken

D.I.E.D., I bet Todd isn’t laughing. The pic came from a friend at work whose dad has a place about 12 miles SW of Overton's. I know Todd has had problems with otters in the past and it looks like there's still plenty in the area. He got within twelve feet of the thing but didn’t have his gun. Here's the other two pics, one shows him munching on a large BG.
Pond Boss subscriber ever since I joined the forum. Thanks Bob!

For whoever is going to be arriving on Thursday, afternoon or evening, 3/22/07, PM me your cell phone number if you're interested in getting together that evening, and I can help to coordinate a social meeting. I'm sure it will be something on the fly, and may need readjusting as we go.
There is a bar in the Wyndham called Extra Innings, and that may be the path of least resistance. Of course we'll have to see what the local PB contingent suggests.
This is of course assuming that none of the powers-that-be are already planning something.
I'm getting excited!

I will be coming in on Friday. I have a trip to Mexico next week that will result in a drive in from Houston area Friday AM early. I will be the one coming in late, or asleep in the back. Mike

I'm getting excited! Serious Bummer! We don't get into Dallas until 10:30 PM on Thursday evening. I just hope the weather cooperates. They tell us we are in for another big snow storm by morning. So far, just extremely heavy rain and wind for the past four or five hours -- but down to 33 degrees. They say it will be well below freezing by morning. I'm sure glad I didn't take the chains of the tractor during this week's 70 degree weather. We haven't seen our pond's stand pipe since about mid-September. Our spillway still looked like Niagra before it started raining late today. Next year's woodpile is already half burned. We're sure looking forward to hot and dry!

catmandoo, you just might not be able to go straight to the hotel room after touchdown.
Might have to go straight to the bar.
So far, we have a little over ten folks that will get together Thursday evening.
I'll call the Guvnor's office tomorrow and check in with him to see if there's a better place to be for a few hours besides the Wyndham, or make sure that they don't have anything else planned.
I think we can make the Wyndham Shuttle bus take us to and from wherever we decide to go. I'll check into it upon arrival.

Theo, I'm well versed in pushing the "mild irritant" envelope when it comes to hospitality staff, without venturing into the "unwanted guest" category.
Well....every once in a while I may dip a toe in the "unwanted guest" category.

Heck, I don't know. Arlington beer joints are not my strong suit. As a matter of fact, I pretty well avoid them. The Wyndham may be the most convenient. I'll check.
It's not about the fish. It's about the pond. Take care of the pond and the fish will be fine. PB subscriber since before it was in color.

I agree with Dave. Sunil ask the Wyndham nicely if we can have a spot in the bar area close to a power supply. I will bring the laptop and we can look at a few pics and post a note to the forum. If we go elsewhere others may not be able to find us later and I may not be able to go as things start early the next am. Be sure when you ask not to threaten them with "Hey Boy! Watch that knife!"

Anyone else care to come out of the closet and admit that you're going to the convention??
Seeing as it's almost a day and a wake-up away, now is as good a time as any.

Well, I've just made a tough decision and will not be coming to the PB conv. I have a 3 yr. old granddaughter's birthday in Nashville 1st wk. in Apr. We missed last year. 1 yr. old grandson, also in Nashmeile in May. My wife wants me to take her this weekend to check on her parents(her mom in the nursing home). I will be taking our 2 yr. old grandson to the pond on his 1st fishing trip. Hope to find some bream planning to play house. I was very hard. Sure would love to meet all y'all. Get some good pics, movies, and soundbytes. Have fun and have a brewski and/or JD for me.
