I am a newbie to the pond hobby and was wondering what effect pennies would do to a pond that will contain fish? When the pond was filling, my kids threw in some pennies and I was wondering if this is cause for concern.
I searched the forum and did not find any entries.
Any help would be much appreciated.

Currently, I believe pennies are an outer layer of 95% zinc and 5% copper over a zinc core.
I'm not aware of any fish problems cause by small amounts of copper or zinc. I currently have enough copper wire in the pond and galvanized steel in the watershed to exceed the influence I think the most optimistic of well-wishers could inflict on a pond, so I sure hope there's no trouble with these two metals.
There is probably more metal content from rainwater than what comes from few pennies.
