They do if there are worms on them.

JIIMM :
Welcome to the PB forum. The best way I have had luck with catching RES (redear sunfish) is with a cricket or worm fished near the bottom in deeper water (5+ ft.). They can also be caught with sinking flies when they start to move up to spawn.

JIIMM:
I have had my best luck catching Redears here in (late) Spring when the water temp was 65-75 degrees, mostly at the bottom in 1.5 to 2 foot depths, on the North (warming up first) side of the pond. This may well be off the spawning beds, but water visibility wouldn't let me confirm that visually. Worms have way outfished anything else for RES in my experience.
