I have a 2 yr old pond that the water level drops to far during dry spells. Does anyone know if I can drill a well and use a wind mill to help sustain the level? The pond is approx. one acre in size with mostly mud, clay, and sand bottom. Thanks for any information.

I have the same problem. Not a drop of rain from May till min September and I lost over 2' of water. It makes it kind of difficult to place your gravel for the bluegill (3" visibility in the spring, 18" in summer), and the cattails spread deeper than they would otherwise.

Your well will help if it has enough flowrate. You can figure out your total water loss/time period to see how much flow you need and ask your local water driller how deep you have to go to get it. You should let it trickle into the pond over some rocks, so the water gets aerated and it helps to air out the H2S if you have some.
