I have a 1/2 acre pond that in october 2004 i stocked with 250 bluegill,150 redear sunfish,50 channel cats, and 5lbs fathead minnows.then in may 2005 i stocked my pond with 30 large mouth bass that are really gowing at a fast rate. This past summer there was a lot of algae that really made the ponds appearance ugly.So this spring i wanted to stock my pond with talapia. What would you guys recommend for a proper stocking rate. I will definitely eat some of the talapia.I trust the experts on this site rather than asking the company that provides the talapia to me.Thanks for any suggestions. This site has really helped me with my pond tremendously.

I have a one acre pond, this past spring I stocked 30 lbs. (60 - 1/2 pound fish). Stocked a little on the heavy side, the offspring really plumped up my Bass.
With your stocking rate of 80 predators (50 cc & 30 Bass) your are a little heavy for a 1/2 acre pond. The Tilapia offspring should help keep em fed as well as the benefit of being an algea eater.
I would probably cull a few of the CC"s , straight into some hot oil.
If wishes were horses, dreamers would ride. I must admit that I am not a fan of the Catfish
