I know Rotenone kills only Fish, Things with Gills. Question is, if a fish is spawning, More particularly Gizzard shad and common carp. Will it also kill their eggs
Snipe - The mode of action of rotenone in fish happens biochemically. "Readily absorbed through the gills, rotenone is lethal to fish because it blocks the biochemical process that allows fish to utilize the oxygen in their blood during cellular respiration." It is true that rotenone enters through the gills, but it does not block oxygen from getting to the cells. Rather it prevents the cells from using that oxygen for biochemical respiration process. Rotenone is also insecticidal.
