Hi all,

I have a two year old one acre pond in Ohio with BG, RES, 80 adult LMB and 60 CC, and 40 juvenile stripers.

I put in 30 lbs of shiners and 15 lbs of fatheads in spring of 22. There still seems a reasonable amount of fatheads but it seems like there are currently thousands of 2 to 4 inch shiners in the pond now. I would think that the predator fish would be controlling the shiner population, but it doesn’t seem so.

Is there a potential problem with too many shiners? I feed a large scoop of Aquamax per day - should I slow this down?

Thanks for your advice, Tony

A lot depends on available cover for the shiners-in reverse- accessibility by predators. In 2 years with the number of Feeders of shiners you list, I don't think you have a problem at all right now.
