I'm thinking of adding mussels into my new ( Dec 20 ) clay bottom pond. I've added golden shiners, fathead minnows, submerged and emergent plants, Christmas trees, stumps and logs in various states of decay. I do have a few areas where soil was placed 3 feet or so from shore and the water has cleared up considerably. Any advice, suggestions or links that would help with my decisions?

Thanks in advance

I’m in Texas, long way from you and I added some clams/ mussels, don’t know if they still around as I haven’t been playing in the mud lately but suspect they are around still. Lime helped my water clear up after adding. Best to check water chemistry as you may not need it.

Just make sure that it's legal. Here in Indiana I don't believe you can legally move clams/mussels from public waters.

I have the permit to stock fish from a hatchery. I will have to çheck if I can stock a native species from a local pond.
