We just had a 1 acre pond dug and used the dirt to raise the area where our house will be. I am concerned about soil erosion and am planning on planting brown top millett this weekend and later planting rye grass to carry us through the winter until we plant a lawn next spring. Are there any reasons I should not do this? Should I broadcast the millett all the way down into the bottom of the pond? The contractor created very good drainage system into the pond so we would not need a well but it may take a little while to fill. We are in central Louisiana.
