for Sheepsfoot rollers, the smaller pull type behind a tractor with aggressive fingers. Some of them I believe you fill the roller with water and so on. My question is Im asking for different names and terms of this "roller" to help me when searching to see if I can find one to buy. I do not believe its a very common item. Ive searched Craigslist as well as general internet searching on Google. Ive searched dirt rollers, Sheepsfoot, sheep foot, soil compactor, etc...with not much luck.

It may seem a bit corny, but I have heard the smaller "sheep's foot rollers" referred to as "lamb's foot rollers". I don't know how common that is. It may be local slang for the smaller versions.

Years ago I used to work for a company that made sheeps foot rollers. I bought all the steel and castings that they were made from.

Depending on why you want to buy one, consider renting one from a construction place where they have one just sitting idle in the yard.

I bought an old single drum sheepsfoot that I think was cut down from a double (on Craig's List). I still need it though. A couple projects are done, one is in progress, and several more are planned.

I have spied a sheepsfoot thats been parked in a field for at least 6 years now. I will likely call the guy to see if I can rent it.
Question - how do you move these suckers?

Thanks for all the great help and ideas. Something will come along someday soon I hope. Redonthehead I can only imagine that the larger rollers would have to be moved with large equip on a pretty heavy duty trailer. Best of luck.

I dont doubt that. Here is one fairly close to me. https://nashville.craigslist.org/grd/6198551570.htmlMy problem is that I only have a small 25 HP tractor. I need something homemade or a smaller version. I thought I wanted the bigger ones but Im afraid it will be too much of a load and possibly unsafe. Thanks for your help.
