Have to question your statement of "Piling your lime in the pond won't hurt...nor help at all, except in the small area it's placed.

obviously water does not stay in place in a BOW. so how will this water that has been exposed to the lime not be moved around the BOW by wind, wave, current etc and in turn effect the PH of the entire BOW? I have several springs that feed my pond/lake as well as runoff creeks, ground water from heavy rains etc. which create a movement of the water as well.
