Looked through the ID and a few random edited online. What is this? Has a longer stem, what you see is about 10-12 inches long. There are a few other "groups" which are 2-3 ft long. Is it Water Pennywort from the ID section? [img:left]http:// [/img]

FlyGuy, I'm bumping your post up so proper identification can be made. It doesn't look like pennywort I've had, but I'm just not sure. I'll also PM this thread to Kelly Duffie. He's the guy that will know for sure.
Pennywort petals will grow above your water level much like a mini American Lotus plants, form small shoreline clumps when first emerging, and I'm just not seeing that here.
Proper identification is the key though. Let's figure that out first.

Is it just me or does the image file not work. It looks like this on my screen...

I did. That was where my uneducated eye landed on the pennywort pic.
I see the plant in a few spots in the pond AND it was excavated last year so I'm not sure I can rule out a non-pond plant that is now covered by water. They are only closer to the edge of the pond where depth is 1-3 feet
