I just bought a property with a 1/2 acre to 3/4 acre pond. It suffered a fish kill 4-5 years ago. The pond is 10ft deep.

I'd like to install an aeration system but am worried about buying problems. I see kits out there but don't know if that's the best way to go. Brands/kits I've seen or heard of are:

Matala
Sentinel
Gast
Thomas (don't know much about these guys)
Easypro?

Based on what I've read, I'm partial toward the rocker-piston configuration based upon operating costs and reliability.

Any advice on a brand or a kit?

Boche, I'm getting ready for aeration installation at my pond. Don't really know which is best system, but I will say this: Make sure the company is solid and capable of doing maintenance.

The ones I'm getting require minor maintenance every three months, major maintenance every year. Otherwise all the expense is for naught. I'm pretty sure this is true for most aerators.

If the aeration company goes out of business, you may have trouble keeping their stuff working. So check carefully before you buy; cheaper may not be so cheap in the long run.

Good luck!

Do some more homework. "rocker-piston" is best used in water deeper than 16-18ft since it develops the higher pressures for deeper water. rocker-piston is harder to rebuild the air pumping mechanism than a rotary vane. Look on Youtube for how tos. Rotary is quieter and made to produce a lot of air volume per hp. Look at cost of rebuild kits, the rebuild frequency and the motor bearing life span.
