We rarely get to see hooded mergansers down south here in east Texas. They are a diver and do consume fish, but I understand that they feed on aquatic insects and crawfish as well. Beautiful species of duck. Haven't seen one in the wild in about 30 years...I'd give up a few BG and FHM to have some hang around my place. I chased a pair off my pond in Paris Monday, so they are around here. I don't want any geese or ducks taking put residence around our pond since it will be a swimming pond too. I had 4 geese one day, and hard to believe how much poop they left.
1.8 acre pond with CNBG, RES, HSB, and LMB Trophy Hunter feeder.
