I think so. I try to compare gill flap markings in your pictures, unless there is an obvious mark on the body. That's what I have been trying to do as well. Question I had in my mind while doing that is does the old saying "A zebra can't change his stripes," hold true for the markings on RES? Do the markings change over time?

FWIW I would say those are pics of the same fish but, what I was going by is, for example, see the 4 dark spots located between the eye and the pec fin right at the joint of the plate in the top pic? Same 4 spots in the bottom pic, just not as dark.

When and at what size were yours stocked Steve? The reason I ask is that I wanna compare growth rate with mine. My biggest are about a half inch shorter than yours I believe. It'll be interesting to compare and contrast as they grow.

I stocked 110 4-5" RES December 2011, I had to break ice on the pond with a pipe to get them in the pond. Then another 30 2-3" RES from the "fish truck" went in late April in 2012. I am guessing the fish pictured above is the offspring from my initial stocking and also a pellet hog.

Another one to ponder. Let em know if you would like to see closer pictures of the cheeks with the contrast slightly enhanced. Is this the same fish? 8/29/15 Sexing RES 10/30/15 Sexing RES Nedoc, from last year this is very likely the same fish, pictures were taken 8-1/2 weeks apart and show the growth rate over that time frame.

Interesting. My biggest (10") were hatched spring of '14 and stocked fall of '14. So I bet you're correct that one is offspring.
