We recently completed digging our 1 acre pond. We have had a few rains that has put some water into it but being a little impatient we decided to add some water from a well. Our well guy gave the ok as far as capability of the well providing enough water to pump 24/7.
The water that I am adding to the one side of the pond has turned the water to an olive green with what looks like very small particles of dirt or slime surrounded by bubbles. It does not cover the surface, but is on about 20% of it. The water on the other side of the pond (which is not yet connected) that has not had any well water is a nice aqua green. Any ideas what the floaters are and why the well water would turn it olive green?

Weak precipitated iron in well water is green. Nothing to worry about as it will settle. The slime and bubbles you see could be just about anything from iron bacteria to algae to stuff in the pond, and also nothing to worry about.

When I run well water into my trout pond 24/7 it stays a cloudy green.

If pigs could fly bacon would be harder to come by and there would be a lot of damaged trees.
