I have just cleaned my pond with chemicals after 15 yrs. Algaecide plus SONAR. Now I need to add bacteria and aeration. My pond is 3/4 acre with max depth about 7 ft. it has some muck to remove and I need to keep the algae out. I want to ad bacteria but not sure which brand is good and I want to add some aeration (either surface or bottom diffusuin whicever is best. Any recommendations would be appreciated.

Bottom is always best.
Bacteria comes from the air, soil, etc. One old fashioned way is to get a bucket full of water from another pond. "Best" bacteria is always a matter of discussion.

It's not about the fish. It's about the pond. Take care of the pond and the fish will be fine. PB subscriber since before it was in color.

As Dave eludes to not all of are convinced of the effectivenss of the commercial bacteria.
If pigs could fly bacon would be harder to come by and there would be a lot of damaged trees.

Aeration will be the best addition you can make...the commercial Bacterial blends may, or may not help. Some are like Rid-X...loaded with few bacteria, and lots of filler. Plus, all the bacteria native to, and most effective for your area are there already, as Dave said, in the air, water, soils, everywhere...all awaiting oxygenated water at depth, which quality, bottom diffused aeration will create.

X2 Rex. I think the added bacteria gets credit when it's the bottom aeration that is making the difference.
It's no accident that sewage treatment plants use lots of aeration.
If the bottom of your pond is anerobic it won't how matter how much bacteria you add.
