I think you're best bet would be to relocate a few from another BOW, yourself. Sourcing bass that size from a hatchery can sometimes be done, but get ready...$$$$$$

Also, some studies appear to indicate that relocating already established, large fish may lead to problems for those fish, and they may in fact, decline.

"Forget pounds and ounces, I'm figuring displacement!"

If we accept that: MBG(+)FGSF(=)HBG(F1)
And we surmise that: BG(>)HBG(F1) while GSF(<)HBG(F1)
Would it hold true that: HBG(F1)(+)AM500(x)q.d.(=)1.5lbGRWT?
PB answer: It depends.

I personally would say to skip the massive bass and just buy the biggest ones your hatchery has

This guy says he sells "adult bass"
Not much to lose by calling him.
He lists 12" adult black bass.
But I'd be surprised if he has bass as big as you want.

I think you might be overlooking Spark's second statement about the success rate of moving large LMB. It might be better to spend money on trying to get your current bass to a larger size than the risk of big ones dying from the moving to strange/new habitat.

ok... I'll ask, instead of assuming. Why do you want to stock larger 5# bass?

In my opinion, and I don't think I saw how large your pond is, but I'd manage what you currently have. What is the current condition of the bass you have in your pond right now? You say 12-14 inches, but what is their relative weight? If you're constantly catching these 12-14 inch bass, start keeping them and let the remaining get bigger.

I think Omaha hit the nail right on the head. I'd suggest you do some heavy reading in Evaluating + adjusting fish population and Corrective stocking in the Managing an existing pond.
Maybe time ta have some friends over for a fry. I'm a Hoosier and have a cardboard sign that says "Will fish for food"

Yeah, that's what I was cautiously getting at. If there is a foundation of bass in there, then why aren't they getting to that 5# size. It probably would be the same reason why if you throw in a 5# bass into that pond, it will die for lack of the proper sized food and to much competition.
