what would be the best bang for my DOLLAR on a small 1/4 pond. I have less that a 100 catfish...and a couple pounds of fatheads minnows in it don't want to speed a $1000 on keeping a 100 catfish alive!!!
economical purchase list --if someone has time to tell me what to order..it will be appreciated !!! Kind alike a parts list...someone who has done it--THANKS!!
note !! pond is 300 feet from my barn with power. leave pump in barn and run hose to pond ?? sorry for all the questions...want to DO it right the first time
also I do not live where pond is....

Welcome to PBF!
Please provide more info like.....
What type of fishery is your goal? Diversity desired? Catch and release or harvest? Trying to be self sustaining as much as possible? etc.

Pushing air 300' is no problem, and pushing air is cheaper than running an electric line, providing you don't need electric at the pond.

For a smaller pond, the Vertex PondLyfe systems work well. You can use black poly tubing to bury in the ground - 3/4" up to 2" diameter depending on the length of run and amount of air needed.
When buying an aeration system from some of the more "hands on" businesses that are listed in the Pond Boss Resource Guide, they are custom sized for each individuals pond.
Pond depth, age of the pond, biochemical demand, local climate, etc. all are looked at before a specific system is recommended. Also diffuser placement in the pond is discussed. It's not as simple as plopping a diffuser in a pond and saying that it's properly aerated.
An aeration system for Northern Minnesota should be different from one in Southern Florida for the same sized pond.

I bought a turnkey system from one of the larger aeration manufactures for my pond and have been very happy with it. But I bought it before I found the forum. If I had to do it over again, now that I've been around the forum a while and wanted to save a few bucks, I would approach one of the several forum members that are in the pond business to help me put together a DIY package. I have seen posts from several folks that our resident experts helped them put together systems they are very happy with. Sounds like they saved a few bucks and got a good system sized for their ponds.
Just my 2 cents
