Does anyone know if they would be a good option for pond stocking as a food source?

I've used their 250,000 fry boxes to jump start new ponds. I've also bought brood sized GSH from them when I needed a small amount. Less expensive than me getting them locally.

If your talking about the black salty, i don't think I would. IMO. Those I believe are just goldfish that can stand brackish water. I don't know if they would get huge or muddy up pond bottom.

I think I remember reading the Black Salty is just some sort of goldfish isn't it? Pretty sure it was on this site where I read that...anyone else recall that post? Not having luck finding it.

I also remember a topic here on the forum talking about how the black salty was just a black goldfish that was bred as a baitfish for saltwater.

I thought Black Salties were old black sailors.

Right you all are.. from 2005.

from Lusk:
I know those guys. I like them. They are honest. Black Saltys are dark goldfish, from the carp family. They have been selectively bred to live a bit longer than "normal" goldfish in saltwater. The biggest market is along the gulf coast, for bait for fishermen chasing redfish and speckled trout.
I don't suggest them in a recreational lake. They are goldfish.
