I've never tried very hard to fish with them as I view it just as a gimmick in my case. However I have run several RC cars on my 3 acre pond. The biggest issue I have had with RCs is that if you have any moss on the pond you will likely get moss in the propeller which stops everything. In my case I needed to have my boat available to go get the RC when it ran in to issues.
