Congratulations Cecil!

You'll love it. We love electrofishing as an option for fish harvest on our farm.

I'll ship tomorrow.

I know! I know! Where's the jumping up and down emoticon when you need it?

I have the boat, now I need to get the boom together, need a generator, electronic connections etc. This should make getting at least some of the smallmouth out for Sunil easier this spring. Thinking of draining the pond down a few feet to make sure I get as many as possible. I can easily refill with the well pump.

Thanks for saving me some bucks. Now I just need to get it all together by spring.

I probably will but my dad does have an electrical background being a retired I & R Telephone man. He wires everything around here for me.

Can I build most of this stuff without ordering it from someone like Smith/Root? Seems like their prices are really marked up for even the smallest components.

I haven't tested my pond water but if it's like the well water that feeds into my ponds. it's about 350 mg/l. Conductivity is in the midrange but I can't seem to find the reading right now.

Cecil, are you going to dream of electrofishing each night now?

I know the excitement would be killing me.

"She took another microscopic bite of her sandwich, then pushed it away. Maybe she absorbed nutrients from her surroundings."

Cecil, be REAL careful with that new toy. I don't want to hear about you surpassing me as the most accident prone guy posting here.

Better the excitement than the electricity.

Yes I'm aware it can be lethal. I actually have some experience with these when I was a biologist aid intern way back in 1978 and 1979. I also did some electroshocking on a nearby public lake a couple of years ago with a biologist when I wrote a column for a local paper.

Back in '79' i remember coming around a corner of a reservoir and I was the one with the foot on the pedal. All of a sudden there's this guy in front of us standing in the water. Fortunately I took my foot off the pedal before the current reached him.

The biologist was a jerk though. He thought it was funny to watch a muskrat curl up in a ball from the current. I thought it was cruel.

So far in life I have only shocked earthworms, myself, and about 75 ticked-off head of cattle ("Damn the electric fence!").

I accidentally dropped the end of a vacuum cleaner (while it was running) into a 50 gallon fish tank once. Does that count? It sure enough landed me square on my butt. \:D
*Note to self: Don't clean house with water and electicity. Check!
