Try DUKE COMPANY P.O. Box 555 West Point, MS. 39773 (662)494-6767, Kansas Trapper's Supply www.kstrapsupply.com Funke Trap Tags & Supplies www.funketraptags.com R-P Outdoors www.rpoutdoors.com Northern Sport Co. www.molnaroutdoor.com They all sell traps and related supplies. Has the client trapped before and knows about trap placement and sets, lures and baits and etc.? Might be easier and much cheaper to go with snares, if legal in his area. Dan

I use both snares and 330 conibear for beaver trapping, and actually caught two yesterday. I order from the Snare Shop www.snareshop.com or 712-822-5318 Nice and knowledgable folk from Iowa.

My property is in East Texas. I'm going to get the conibear traps for beaver and otter. My question is whether to get all 330 traps for both or get some of the 280's for otter. Some one told me that a few otter might slip thru the 330? What can you tell me?

I've tried snares as Dan mentions.... if you do so you'll want to set up a drowning rig or swivel inline since they are strong animals and can twist enough to snap the snare wire.
Good luck.

Jim, Yes, Otters can slip thru a 330 if the trigger wires are spread too far apart. You can fasten a fine wire between the ends of the trigger wires to prevent this. I have caught little Muskrats in a 220 doing this.
Chris, Have you got them pesky Beavers under control now?

Hey Dan! I think there is still a solo beaver working the area, but I only see signs of it once in a while. (Two that evaded me didn't evade highway traffic). There has however been a increase in coyote and wolf in my area and the general lack of any small mammals seems to coincide with this.
I think I may have been somewhat near your area this past weekend... I was south-west of Ypsilanti

Chris, at least the coyote and wolf won't be cutting your trees down and building dams. You were probably pretty close. If you happen to get over this way again, let me know I'll give you a cell phone number. Dan

Dan, Thanks for your help. I can tell you that the Victor traps work. I also checked with the Texas Parks and Wildlife Dept and all you need for trapping is the standard hunting license. At my age it is $6.00. A special license is required to trap commercially.
