Hey I've got a 1/4 acre pond. murky, alagae, etc. 8-9' deep in center. running power over there (1000 feet) and plan to wire it up for a 110 volt connection. I've been looking at this aerator manufactured by Aqualink in PA. Is anyone familiar with this company and/or this system? are there others i should be looking at?

How many amps are you wanting to pull at the end of a 1000' run?

I would go with the higher voltage because your wire cost will be a whole lot cheaper.

As an example, let's say you are going to pull 15 amps at 110 volts at the end of the run, with copper. You are looking at a 2/0 cable to do the job, whereas, if you went with the equivalent wattage at the higher 220 volt level, you're down to 6ga copper wire.

It's quite rare to find a 110/220/440 volt feed from the power company, but they are around. Most in the USA are 120/240/480, and most will have a slight kicker to them, usually around 10%. Based on my example, the 10 or 20 volt difference from 110-120 to 220-240 won't change your wire/cable size because it's all within that window of less than a 3% voltage drop at the end of the run.

There are plenty of aeration people here, so I'm sure someone will kick in about that piece of advice.

Do you have a shack or outbuilding at the pond to house the compressor?
