thanks for the pic bruce, it reminded me of a question i asked in a post a couple months ago, in fact, may have been the top of this thread 6 pages ago.......how do does the USDA define a drought?

its hard not to notice CA in the clear (non-drought conditions) when in fact our last measurable rainfall was April 16 2006. Of course this happens just about every year, we expect it, it is the definition of a mediterranean climate. Now if it dont rain at all starting around November through April, we have us a major drought.

Did TX not get any rain last winter?

not that my questions help any of us pondmeisters suffering major losses to evaporation, just trying to clarify USDA classifications (if thats possible).
