We put in a new water hole up by the house which is 75'X45'X10' deep. Was just wondering how many fish it would hold. It will have aeration and fish will be feed. Will be putting in all male bluegill transferred from another pond. Would like to add a few channel and maybe a couple hybrid stripers. Just don't want to get to many in there. Bluegill and channels will will be fished out and others added at least once a year. Any recommendations? This little pond is just something to fool with and let kids fish it.

if this pond is just for you and your kids to fish in, I would say go with as few as possible. Maybe 20-50. Blue gill sunfish are generally small, but can be territorial with other males, if not given enough space. Also, do not forget about evaporation; even in Illinois, the summer can take a good amount of the water.

That is .077 acres. Under the conditions set out you could do 100 male BG and a few (5) HSB. I would skip the CC unless you can assure no reproduction. Might want to look into HBG to avoid the chance of 1 female BG being in the mix. Good thing about a mini pond is it is relatively easy to redo the fish.
