Our subdivision has 18 homes around an 8 acre pond here in SC. I noticed this algae floating in it for ~2 months now. I have lived here for 2 years and haven't noticed it before. We have lots of it floating.

Is it bad? Thanks!

Yes as the weather heats up it will rises to the surface. Not necessarily bad but very unsightly and hard to control (in my pond anyways)

I believe in catch and release. I catch then release to the grease..

Thanks for the reply! I've never seen it before. This is a cooler than normal summer here in SC.

Anyone else have any info?

is there any aeration or circulation?
I have seen that "pond scum" in stagnant ponds before

We don't have aeration but this is one pond in a line of ponds and they all flow into one another. With all the rain we've have over the past 3 months, we have had lots of water coming in and lots going out. So we've had lots of movement.

We do have geese. Could this be caused from the goose droppings?
