Should I aerate year around here in Nebraska?

Lusk says in Spring when water temps hit 50, then shut down in the Fall when they hit 50 again. You can run in the Winter to melt snowcovered ice which can lead to Winterkill - but move diffusers shallow to avoid supercooling the water and leading to a different kind of fish kill.

Lot's more advice here on the forum, I do not aerate, this is just what I've read from Cruz, Lusk and the other experts.

TJ, push the biomass more in your ponds and you will be aerating.........

Oh, I want to be, but want all five ponds aerated. That's a hefty pricetag...would prefer to get a single system to run them all. We'll see.

TJ, redundancy is your friend. If using a single system, and something happens to it, all the ponds will be without aeration (if it's the compressor or a line getting cut/chewed thru).

I think running multiple systems might be cheaper, depending on where electric is and how much tubing you have to run underground.

I already have all my pvc tubing installed headed to each pond...just need a central unit[s].

My main pond has heavy biomass, imagine I'm nearly pushing the limits, but I've never seen any water quality issues - YET. My other four ponds are so light on biomass or get drained and stand dry for 6 mos I am not in any hurry - nor do I have $5k laying around doing nothing.
