I have a new pond going in soon. It will be about 1/3 acre,6-8' deep. My wife wnats a fountain. I want an aerator. Do they make a unit that does both, effectively?
thanks,
howard

I'm biased b/c this is what we sell but for your pond I suggest the 3400 JF. They call them aerating fountains. great product, let me know if you decide to purchase one.

It looks really nice, but i was thinking of something that does some type of airlift fom the bottom of the pond. If i understand correctly, the fountains that draw from the surface only, aren't nearly as effectice in aerating the entire water column, like an conventiontal aerator would. Maybe with only an 8' pond that would not be so critical. I don't know.

Howard, if we could make a system that both had an airlift and a display, we would be very rich right now.

To make the Kasco Fountain that Greg spoke of use the bottom water of your pond, a draft tube would have to be added to it. Unfortunately the tube would restrict the amount of water required to acheive a good display.

Obviously the best of both worlds would be a single diffuser placed stategically in your pond with the fountain.

This can be done with the Kasco fountain with minimal cavitation of the prop. Other fountain models that require a "well-type" pump underneath are affected by bubbles more than the prop driven Kasco unit.

We have done this type of set up several times with great results, both in the pond's water quality and the spouse's approval.
