I am about to start up a new aeration system with 3 air diffusers in a 1+ acre pond eight feet deep that is 30 years old and has some high nutrient loading issues. Do I run the diffusers 24/7 right away or do I gradually work into full running? How much turbidity is too much?

Start slow,No more than 15- 30 minutes to start and double each day for a week and you will be at 24/7 If you see any fish activity out of the norm during this process back the time down to the previous days time,Turbidity depends on what is making it that way, If clay particles then sight feeders will have a rough go,Plants in general will not do well.So less turbitity would be advised.Catfish for example higher turbidity OK If planktonic and this is part of your goal then 18-24 inches may be fine. Thanks Ted for the reply. I checked the pond volume with the performance of the diffusers (3) and estimated a pond turn over in about 6 hours. Is the turnover a straight calculation or is there a certain loss of efficiency or an optimum diameter of influence that needs to be taken into account? Are there any advantages to turning a pond over more than once a day? If I do put it on timer, what is the best times to run the diffusers?
