They seemed nice and helpful. I got my FHM from them. They had what they call just hybrid bass. Are those the same as HSB. This was a fish day last week.

It's not about the fish. It's about the pond. Take care of the pond and the fish will be fine. PB subscriber since before it was in color.

The hybrid bass you mention could be the F1 "tiger bass" hybrid Florida LMB mix with northern LMB

HSB are raised a lot in Ark and sold all over. Who knows what they have in those tanks. Ask where they got the fish (what hatchery).

What would be reasons for choosing Florida, Northern, Tiger?
Would it be wise to put a few of each in a pond assuming the hatchery has all of them?
This may make it easier to catch one of the types.
I am sure they all are BG eating machines so that base would probably be covered.

They are who I got my fish from before having to drain pond for leak. I was just wondering if they are reputable. The come about 8 miles from my house to Rolla a lot. There is usually a huge line.

No. Looked at the web site and I would not follow their suggested stocking plans.
From :

Wonder why they don't go to La. ?
I would want to know what hatchery they get the fish from. I would rather deal hatchery direct.

I echo ewest's comments. In looking at their fish for Indiana, they only have Florida Strain LMB, and also offer CNBG, both of which I know will NOT survive up here. No Northern LMB nor Northern BG are available.

The easiest option for getting fish isn't always the best option as there are many threads here that show the mistakes of taking the easiest way out.

Best thing to do would be get their # on their site, call them ask about what exactly you want don't let them recommend? Tell them what you want not what they suggest.. Compare their info too their site, bring all info back here for validation..

I found out later a guy I work with got some of the hybrid bass. They had no largemouth available. He had no pics so I don't know what he ended up with. He said hybrid bass. That's all he knew.

First, here is a link to their website: Stock My Pond. I don't know anything about them. But, they don't say anything about, or post any photos of their "hybrid" bass. I'd be very cautious. Again, just recently we've had questions on the forum about less-than-honorable fish dealers making incredibly bad recommendations. It is a nationwide problem. I've now gotten to the point where I inspect all batches of fish closely before they go on my truck. I then re-inspect them very closely, in groups of 10 or less, as I release them into ponds. I'm personally trying to start an effort to certify fish dealers and "pond managers" operating in WV. I've personally been stung twice in the last couple of years by the same WV "hatchery." There are at least two other cases here on the forum of people getting bad fish from this same dealer. None of us can truly prove it. One, in Northern Virginia, believes he got brown bullheads instead of channel cats. He drained his pond and started over again. At nearly the same time, I believe I got white catfish instead of channel cats from this particular dealer. Neither of us have any way of proving it. More recently, another PB poster in Central Virginia got some kind of mutt fish instead of redear sunfish. At nearly the same time, I did also. I didn't realize it until I saw postings here from the other individual. Neither of us really know what to do. The dealer said he would replace the fish -- but they had already infected our ponds. In my newest pond, I've got these mutt fish mingled with lots of dollars worth of hybrid bluegill and channel cats, plus some real RES. I'm also trying to find a way to certify pond consultants. It is amazing how much damage can be done to whole communities and large watersheds by just one individual. I'm looking hard at the Auburn University CAP program. I'm open to any suggestions. Regards, Ken

I think you will be p***ing up a wet rope trying to certify pond consultants! Gee, I don't live in Texas, VA, Cali, Romania...

Not necessarily Phil. It could be done if a dealer realized it would be to his advantage to a certified one vs. non certified. It would be a good selling point.
In my state we have taxidermists that are certified by the state taxidermy association in their specialties.
If pigs could fly bacon would be harder to come by and there would be a lot of damaged trees.

Definitely a good idea to certify, but a standard needs to be developed and a certifying agency formed. The guy who started UL (Underwriters Laboratories) had a good idea. On a local level, you could probably do it.

Just to add.
It may be difficult to get X fish farm/supplier and X pond builder that has been doing this for some time, to submit to a handful of pond owners for certification.
That will never happen! They will just tell you to go away, and get some med's on your journey!

I don't think Ken is talking about a few pond owners Phil. After all he is a big part of his state aquaculture association.
