I have these little grubs growing all over my waterfall. They attach to the rocks.

Is there anything I can do to lower the amount? I think that they turn into these black moths since they are flying around the waterfall.

Insecticide of some kind I'm sure will work..

I believe in catch and release. I catch then release to the grease..

my concern is that it is in flowing water. The insecticide would spread out into the pond. The grubs are under the water attached to the rocks.

They are midge larvae. Good for your pond. If you don't like the looks of them I would manually remove them with a scrub brush, otherwise look at them as a valuable part of the ecosystem.

Can you shut the waterfall off? Is it ran by a pump? If so shut down for a day.. I'm not sure but I think they make insecticides for hobby ponds if you could get the flow to bypass the pond or circulate straight back to the top some how the insecticide should do it's job in a matter of hours maybe minutes..

Great Idea! just shut it down, and let the sun bake it a day or two.
