Well I pulled the trigger on a Texas Hunter feeder this morning, and ordered my CNB from Bob Waldrop. My bream tank has filled and cleared, so it's time to stock.

Hopefully the issue I've had with forage for my big lake will resolve itself by Fall, and with the annual Tilapia stock, my LMB should have everything but a chocolate fountain.

Now on my way to Pott's Feed Store to load up on Aquamax. I love this time of year.

Yeah, but you get more than one meal out of it!

I don't know how long they last, but if you figure out the price per day of hassle free feedings, I think they are pretty cheap.

I agree. The bream tank absolutely has to be feed daily, so a reliable feeder was a no brainer. If the other 4 different brands I have in the big lake fail, it's a non issue. This one is critical.

If you have the time, what other brands do you have, and what issues (if any) have you had with each one?

Speaking of cost I wonder how many people could build a nice pond for the price they pay for a deluxe bass boat?

I built my first pond for 3 grand and at one time had 400 green carp I was feeding from 2 to 6 pounds. I hear the deluxe bass boats start at twice that much and more.

Just a thought.

Edit: This is not meant as a slam against people with bass boats or like to fish in bass tournaments.

If pigs could fly bacon would be harder to come by and there would be a lot of damaged trees.

Only as a FYI, some of the top end bass boats can run as high as $50K-$60K + depending on options you order. Mediocre range from $15K+ on up. Comparing ponds to boats is like comparing apples to oranges, but I certainly agree, I enjoy my BOW while it was a heck of a lot cheaper than my boat!

esshup, I have 1 Moultrie box feeder, similar design to the Texas Hunter, that as been discontinued. I detailed it's installation in a previous post, and so far so good. It did leak, which was a problem others had, but I fixed that with aluminum A/C tape, and it has been very reliable so far. Time will tell.

I also have an Aqua Pro 40 gallon directional feeder that was up only a few months, so no verdict yet.

And, I have 2 old 6 1/2 gallon hanger feeders, that work fine, but did not achieve what I wanted. With lake fluctuations, a hanger tends to throw to much food on the ground when the water level drops. I pull them in, and maintain them every year, so no real problem with those.

The Texas Hunter has gotten great reviews, and I can fill and maintain it easily.

The choice to spend what a Texas Hunter costs, wasn't an easy decision, but I'm confident it will be worth it.

I feed Aquamax 500 (Pott's in Emory charges $38 a bag for you East TX guys) in all of them, and I have had no problems with food jamming the thrower. Humidity is the only real issue I've ever had, which caused clumps of pellets that had to be manually removed.

And yes, I could have bought a Ranger by the time all the lake work was done.

Thanks for the update. Yes, I remember the posts about water getting into the food. Not a good thing.
