Thanks Bob for the phone call last night, I apologize for not being much of a conversationalist, we're walking around in a daze here. I truly appreciate all of the love and support you've shown to Ricki and I.
Ricki read through this post with me this morning, she was very much moved by the prayers and kind thoughts, it caused her to well up with tears. You folks are the best! The Pond Boss forums have been a great extended family to us.
From the bottom of my heart I truly thank you all, it is very uplifting to know that we have the prayers and support from this community.

Sorry for being late, have been out of pocket. Bonnie and I will put a monster prayer out there for Ricki and you. Life is full of hurdles, we just have to keep jumping them.
In Dog Beers, I've had one.

I forgot to update this post. Good news and neutral news (fortunately no bad news) from last Friday's appointment. The good news is that the other spots that were examined are NOT cancer. Big WHEW, there!
The neutral news is that reconstruction could not begin on Ricki's ear. The doctor decided that he wanted to allow some scar tissue to accumulate before he would begin an grafting. So another appointment was set for the end of the month.
But the best news was there wasn't any bad news. So we're hanging in there and waiting for the appointment at the end of the month!
Thank you all again for the thoughts and prayers - they are working!

Thank you all and I will update this post after the appointment at the end of the month.
{SOAP BOX ON}
Two huge lessons learned that I hope everyone will take to heart:
1. Never ever ignore unusual spots on your skin. Google skin cancer and know the warning signs. Have every spot that you have the slightest concern about checked out by a physician.
2. If you feel you are not getting sufficient treatment and/or attention from your doctor/medical group then change them immediately. Be a strong advocate for your own health care.
Those of us that grew up in the era of no sun screen (remember tanning butter?) are most susceptible to skin cancer. Tanned arms and face are not a sigh of health - they are sign that you are inviting trouble - and trust me, this is a kind of trouble that you do not want.

or, that you are a farmer or a surfer but neither are good excuses. ***** Yes Dave, and she will continue to yell at you, only now it will be louder and more forceful (BTW - I got yelled at that day too). {this was a day that DIED at I spent fishing on his pond without hats or sunscreen, JWHAP and DWIED walked down to the pond observed us fishing, JWHAP strongly suggested we put on sunscreen, long sleeve shirts, long pants and hats which we of course ignored and continued to fish - I got a sunburn and no sympathy. Now I've what observed damage can be done and will strive to be more responsible or at least as responsible as can be expected of me which I freely admit is not a very high standard.}

Fantastic news update......
We went to the doctor yesterday and the doctor decided that the skin on the ear is filling in very well and he decided that no skin graft was necessary (which avoids an additional wound caused by the skin graft donor site). They covered the ear in artificial skin (which will be absorbed) and said she is good to go as long as no infection occurs!
YA HOO!!!

Ricki and Jeff -- you can't imagine how often you come up in our thoughts. If you decide to visit family back here, and you need a day or two of respite, remember that you are always welcome to spend some time with us. The guest room was recently remodeled, and it is always open.

It's not about the fish. It's about the pond. Take care of the pond and the fish will be fine. PB subscriber since before it was in color.

Greetings from Argentina!
That's some great news, so much so that I'm going to have a nice steak and a bottle or two of red Argentine wine. Now, frankly, I was still going to do the same, but now, I can keep my reserves in the Bank of Self Rationalization, and use your great news instead!
Ciao'!
