I have a small pond, mostly used for watering the horses, but it is full of Bullheads about 2 to 3 inches long. I put about 5 Kentucky Bass in a few years ago and a large Flathead Cat about 5 Lbs. If they survived I am sure they have grown, however I still have little Bulls...any suggestions on how to rid the pond of these or at least get them under control? I had someone suggest puting in a few Blue Cats...would this help?

Thanks,
Chris

Drop in a couple of 12-15" LMB. They should be more likely to rid the smaller BH.

I have a 1 acre pond that was full of bullheads. I removed about 800 using a fishing pole and minnow traps (with a slightly wider than normal opening). I then added 100 fingerling LMB. It is now two years later and I think I have some measure of control.

Got a little problem with too many bass though.... That is another story LOL

Renovation (drop the level and rotenone or lime) is also an option.

Thanks all...

Theo Gallus, I had thought of that but I dont want to kill the Flathead or the Bass. But thanks for the input.

A minnow trap, as previously mentioned would get a lot of the smaller bullheads. But a few 12 inch bass would clear a lot of those out. As for the adult bullheads, one word, trotlines. And, boy, are they good fried.
