I've heard you guys talk about pushing air from apretty good distance. For me, we are talking about 700 ft form my nearest 110 source. I noticed in some of the post about using 1" plastic pipeing. My question is, are you guys talking about the black abs piping thats used for irrigation?
My plan is this. While im saving up my nickles and dimes for a compressor and diffuser, I can go ahead and be laying my pipe. about 75% will be through the pasture, so is there a certin depth I need to bury it in order to keep the cows from crushing it? any other suggestions would be greatly apprecieated.
Thank you guys for all the great advice you have been giving me. this is a wonderfull site. And with the knowledge I've recieved from searching through these forums, I can already see an improvment. even got my hard headed dad to come around on some of it
Thanks again
Denny

Denny, that size pipe for that short of run will work fine, as far as depth "depends"wet ground and heavy cows can compress several inches I would think. If at least a foot is doable I would consider that my minimum.

Thanks Ted
Ok bare minimum, using the 1" tubing ran underground for 600 ft. what compressor specs should i look for using 2 9"discs?
It is a 50 year old farm pond, which im sure has a buttload of muck in the bottom. I do know its a clay bottom, well under the muck. I'm in the process of liming the pond. It's .45 acrea, and ill guess no more than 10' at the deepest part. I'll actually measure as soon as i can get a boat in there.

Just a thought here: What about running 110V out to the pond instead of 1" PVC? Then the compressor will only have to puch air a short distance. I suppose it would come down to economics as to 1" PVC vs. electrical wire.

If a small wobl piston is used and a very efficient set of discs then a minimum of 1.5 cfm and a max of 2.5 cfm open flow will work.In 8 ft with 2 cfm to the station (Vertex shallow water XL2S for example))expect 2500 gpm lift.

I'd try and run the airline deeper. Thinking ahead, if in the future the pasture was disked for planting.........
