Well I finally took the time to register. I have been a lurker for 3-4 years. I have read thousands of posts and tried to memorize all the good info. My dream came true in November of 2009 as I bought a 30 acre lake in NE Missouri. I had looked for 7 plus years for a lake of at least 5 acres to fish and manage. Initially the lake was overstocked with bass, but I'm working hard on that by removing all bass under 14 inches or anything that is below 80th% on the wt. chart. I have removed over 1700 fish the first year. Big Nate from Illinois helps with electroshocking and advise on culling ete. I'm off to a slow start in 2011 due to surgery but hope to fish like crazy after the Pond Boss convention in Branson. I have a Bachelors in Biology so I have some background, but I have learned a ton from the forum here. It's the best resource for private lake management. I will post some pics later. Thanks for a great forum, I look forward to meeting some of you in Branson next week.

Hawg,

We're glad you finally posted. If you know Nate, you are way ahead of many in your quest for a great fishery.

We're also glad to know you are coming to the conference. This is one place to not follow in Nate's footsteps. At our first conference, Nate was so bashful and did not introduce himself to any of us! It was another year before we knew who he was!

You will find that the PB attendees and sponsors are all very open and wonderful people. Wherever you are, introduce yourself, and just start talking to whoever is near you. Look for the ID badges. But, even if you run across some of those who will be attending the cannibal cook-off contest, I'm sure they will be glad to make your acquaintance.

See you at the conference,
Ken

New here from NE Oklahoma. I have read a lot of good information on this site and can say it's good to be here.

TBird, since you're in the neighborhood, come to the Conference this weekend.

It's not about the fish. It's about the pond. Take care of the pond and the fish will be fine. PB subscriber since before it was in color.

And I've got a room you can have take over for me since I can't make it!
