I'm glad I could contribute something to this site! I used some metal plating along the gangway, knowing it would be subjected to the humidity, rain, etc. I cleaned the metal with acetone, then put some saltwater marine grade epoxy coating on it. 2 years later, rust is popping up! DOH !!!! Also, I too, find it satisfying to make something myself that use store bought. One thing to keep in mind (I did not) is weight. The metal frame weights much more than the poly. Although I think you've pretty well covered with 24 barrels, just something to keep in mind. I also painted my barrels. Use silver or white. This helps reflect the harmful UV rays that can break down the plastic barrels over the years. If you have any questions, just ask. If there was a mistake to be made, I probably made it! Haha!
