I bought an used Gast 1/3 hp compressor that came with a weather proof box and a cooling fan on ebay last week. The guy ran copper pipe back and forth on the inside of the box for th air to go through before it goes to the diffuser. He said it was to cool the air. Has anyone ever heard of this? I would think you would create restriction which would create more heat. Should I bypass this and run right from the compressor? The pressure gauge reads about 6-7 psi. ddddd

HI KENZ, Welcome to Pond Boss.
I looked the item up on ebay and saw all of the pictures.
I understand what they were trying to do, and without going into a whole bunch of stuff, my scale is tipping on the side of bypass.

That's what my thoughts were. I don't think there could be much cooling from inside the enclosure, even though it seems to be vented well.
