My 1/2 acre pond got a ton of it over a few months last year. Of course, it's quite shallow with the deepest point being around 4 feet and the rest of averaging, I would bet, around 2 feet. At the same time, the 1.5 acre pond, which has lots of trees around it to provide some shading, and which is consistently much deeper, had very little FA that I could see. Larger BOW can have less "demand" on them due to the volume.Larger BOW's can have far less 3-4ft shallow shorelines to total volume ratio. Smaller bodies usually have a higher ratio of organic production to water volume which can translate into FA.
